Abstract
The King Faisal Foundation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has awarded the 2016 King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) for Science in the field of biology to Vamsi Krishna Mootha from USA, and Stephen Philip Jackson from the UK. Mootha has used the mitochondrion as a model to identify the link between pivotal molecular factors involved in mitochondrial dysfunction and major human diseases such as diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
